Laboratory Operations Lead

Overview

In this EMC Operations Lead role, you will shape and run one of the UK’s most advanced EMC testing laboratories. You lead a high-performing team, drive efficient lab operations, and influence commercial performance. You’ll oversee test programmes, uphold quality and standards, and collaborate with sales to align scope and delivery. This position places you at the center of innovation and safety science, with a clear impact on bringing new technology to market.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop engineers and technicians to foster a high-performance culture
• Drive lab operations efficiency, including workflow and resource allocation, using data to improve margins and delivery metrics
• Oversee test programmes, support technical problem-solving and decision-making, ensure standards and best practices
• Act as a trusted escalation point for customers and partner with sales on scope, pricing, and delivery
• Own financial performance including cost and revenue management

Key requirements

• Strong experience in a technical or lab-based environment
• Formal or informal leadership experience
• Commercial awareness (cost, pricing, performance)
• Data-driven thinking and problem-solving ability
• Excellent people leadership and communication skills
• Collaborative and positive approach
• Degree in engineering or related field (nice to have, not essential)
