Overview

In this role you join Stantec’s Heritage team to deliver expert historic environment consultancy across major UK water, highway and infrastructure projects. You will conduct varied work—from data searches and assessments to client liaison and mitigation strategy development—while contributing to project management and heritage screening. You will work in multidisciplinary teams, with GIS skills welcomed to support assessments. Responsibilities

  • Conduct data searches and desk-based assessments for infrastructure projects
  • Liaise with clients and negotiate with LPA archaeological and heritage advisors
  • Analyze risks and formulate mitigation strategies for projects
  • Contribute to project management and heritage screening exercises
  • Deliver high-quality historic environment consultancy across various project types
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to provide solutions
  • Support mapping activities and heritage-related documentation
  • Utilize GIS skills to support heritage assessments (advantageous)

Key requirements

  • Degree in Archaeology or a heritage-related subject
  • Corporate membership of or progressing toward membership in CIAC and/or IHC within 12 months
  • Solid knowledge of British archaeological resources and UK planning policy framework
  • Strong report writing and client relationship skills
  • Commitment to high-quality heritage consultancy and environmental respect
  • Client-focused communication

  • Adaptability to varying project scopes
  • Knowledge of UK planning policy framework
  • Experience with heritage impact assessments and mitigation planning
