Overview
In this role you oversee a portfolio of client entities and lead a small accountancy team to deliver high-quality compliance and advisory services. You will build strong client relationships, manage accounting and tax tasks, and provide strategic financial guidance to help small businesses grow. The role blends client work with team development and process improvements in a collaborative, growth-focused firm. You’ll contribute to the firm’s mission of professional, personalised service for clients across Edinburgh and beyond. Responsibilities
- Oversee a portfolio of clients (limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, LLPs)
- Develop and maintain client relationships to ensure high-quality service
- Supervise 2–3 junior staff; mentor their professional development
- Review accounts preparation, corporation tax returns, VAT submissions, and bookkeeping
- Provide strategic financial advice, including tax planning and growth strategies
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
- Support business development, including onboarding new clients and identifying growth opportunities
- Improve internal processes to enhance efficiency and service quality
Key requirements
- ACCA/ICAS qualified (or equivalent) with proven practice experience
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting and tax regulations for small businesses
- Experience managing a team and mentoring junior staff
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a leadership role
- Proficiency in Xero and QuickBooks
