Overview

In this role you will shape and deliver electrical engineering for large onshore and offshore wind projects across the UK and Europe. You will work across development and construction phases, from early design through substations, grid connections and turbine interfaces, contributing to a growing renewable portfolio. You’ll drive innovation, value, and best practices to improve asset performance and reduce lifecycle costs. You will collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery. Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage electrical contract documentation (substation and electrical balance of plant specs, scopes, and Works Information)
  • Prepare and update technical specifications for substations and wind turbines, ensuring compliance through design reviews
  • Support FATs and SATs for major electrical components and systems across onshore/offshore sites
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, external stakeholders, and supply chain partners to coordinate engineering activities
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practice within the Electrical Engineering function

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership
  • Experience in substation layout design, primary plant specifications, and testing up to 400kV
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy generation, wind or transmission infrastructure
  • Understanding of engineering legislation, standards and best practices for substations and electrical systems
  • Commercial awareness to understand project/business implications of engineering decisions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within Central Scotland and project locations
