DevOps Engineer

Overview

In this role you will join Leidos UK & EUROPE to support growth across UK programmes as a DevOps Engineer. You will work within agile teams to analyze requirements, manage risks, and collaborate across disciplines while flexibly broadening into systems engineering, software development, training, security, and testing. You will shape database and deployment practices on AWS and contribute to delivery standards. The position offers a chance to impact complex defence and public-sector initiatives with modern tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain databases in client/server environments
• Plan and execute migration of data from physical/IaaS to virtual AWS instances
• Configure databases for performance, resilience, replication, reporting, administration and backup/archiving
• Design and maintain complex databases with SQL, access methods, organization, security and documentation
• Apply knowledge of database technologies and front-end/back-end programming (e.g., COGNOS, SQL)
• Perform database programming and support systems design
• Contribute to runbooks and monitoring standards, file design and storage
• Align with Leidos delivery standards and suggest improvements

Key requirements

• Software engineering experience
• Extensive AWS Services experience
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, TestRail, SonarQube, Robot, Python, Bitbucket, Jenkins, TerraForm, Ansible, Unix bash scripting IaC and SDLC
• Ability to translate user stories into engineering deliverables and documentation
• Systems software development and deployment of build artifacts across environments using GitFlow
• Experience with automated build/test/deploy
• Experience with AWS, SME (Wintel/Unix/Virtualised Networking/Monitoring/Security)
• Experience of SAFe

• UK citizenship and UK based
• UK SC Clearance or ability to obtain
