Principal Functional Consultant

Overview

In this Principal Functional Consultant role, you lead core finance workstreams in complex Workday Financial Management implementations, acting as a trusted advisor to CFO stakeholders. You design solutions, configure setups, and mentor junior colleagues across UKI deployments. You ensure successful delivery through rigorous discovery, testing, and go-live activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities

• Lead core functional finance workstreams on end-to-end Workday Financial Management implementations
• Act as trusted advisor to finance stakeholders and guide solution design workshops
• Configure robust system setups and map legacy structures to Workday FDM
• Direct testing streams (Unit, E2E, UAT) and manage go-live activities
• Mentor junior team members and review configuration quality
• Collaborate with Data, Integration, and Technical Consultants to architect touchpoints
• Deliver 1–2 full-cycle implementations in the UKI market within the first year
• Contribute to internal practice assets and continuous deployment innovations

Key requirements

• 10+ years of functional consulting experience in enterprise financial management
• 6+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience (Core Financials, FDM, GL, AP/AR, Assets, Banking, or Revenue)
• Strong knowledge of UKI corporate accounting, multi-currency operations, and statutory reporting
• Fluent in English
• Proven ability to mentor juniors and engage with finance leaders and SMEs
• Experience in sales enablement, RFP/RFI response, and articulating business value to executives
• Ability to learn technology quickly and work autonomously in remote settings
• Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed
• Experience in UKI public sector is preferred
