In this London-based role you will drive patent litigation for a leading US law firm with a global IP platform. You will handle complex, high-value disputes across technology and life sciences, collaborating with cross-border colleagues. The role combines litigation execution, strategic advising, and client development within a supportive, hybrid work environment. Responsibilities
- Manage UK patent litigation including technical analysis, evidence, strategy and case management
- Advise on patent enforcement, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate issues
- Coordinate multi-jurisdictional dispute work with US and European teams
- Potentially advise on other IP rights (trademarks, designs, copyright, confidential information)
- Support transactional and advisory IP work where relevant
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development
- Supervise and develop junior lawyers within the team (for senior candidates)
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or barrister with strong academic credentials
- Mid-senior level experience (3–7 PQE) or equivalent merit-based consideration
- Solid patent litigation experience, preferably at a leading international or specialist IP firm
- Scientific or technical background (life sciences, chemistry, engineering, computer science, physics) preferred
- Experience with pharmaceutical/medical devices regulation is advantageous but not essential
- Experience advising on other IP rights desirable
- Strong analytical skills, ability to handle technically complex subject matter
- Confident communicator with excellent drafting skills and commercial mindset
