Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager / Procurement Manager, you will lead the formation of commercial strategies and manage contract procurement and administration to deliver value for money across energy projects. You will work with cross-functional teams and external partners to control costs, risks, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. The role focuses on pre- and post-award commercial activities, supplier relations, and robust reporting to support client programmes. This is a chance to influence heavy-energy, onshore and offshore mega projects in a leading, sustainability-focused engineering firm.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective commercial strategies at programme, project and category levels
- Support procurement processes (pre-award) and manage contracts during execution (post-award) and close-out
- Manage supplier/contractor commercial relationships and performance
- Prepare tender documentation and contract documents (Works Information etc.)
- Oversee progress and cost management, contract progress reporting and reviews
- Administer contract commercial aspects (Notices, Applications for Payment, Variations, Disputes) and legal interfacing
- Lead contract commercial reviews and progress reviews as needed
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities early
- Maintain contract commercial files and cost records
- Deliver contract-specific financial reporting and participate in contract reviews
- Collaborate with Project Manager, Engineering, Marine, Estimating and accounts teams and supply chain
Key requirements
- Effective pre- and post-contract commercial management
- Extensive experience with NEC and/or FIDIC forms of contract in construction/major projects (power, oil & gas, water, rail)
- Membership of a recognized professional body (RICS / CIPS / CICES / IOB or equivalent)
- Experience with HV cables and equipment is welcomed
- Background in HV Power and Energy is beneficial or transferable
- Ability to manage significant procurement expenditure and commercial administration
