Finance Manager – Kenya/ Tanzania

Overview

In this role you will lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to steer growth across East Africa. You will work closely with commercial and operations teams to enhance profitability, ensure statutory compliance, and strengthen financial controls. You will oversee month-end close, cash flow management, and risk oversight while building local finance capabilities. This position offers regional exposure across Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda and involves frequent travel. You will contribute to a high-impact finance function within a leading industrial player in Africa.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities
• Ensure compliance with local statutory and tax requirements in Kenya and Tanzania
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
• Monitor working capital, cash flow, and inventory performance
• Partner with commercial and operational teams to support business growth and profitability
• Develop and implement financial controls and risk management procedures
• Coordinate external audits and maintain relationships with banks and regulators
• Analyze business performance and provide actionable recommendations to senior management
• Lead, mentor, and develop local finance teams

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred
• Minimum 5 years of finance management experience within distribution, FMCG, retail, trading, or similar sectors
• Experience working across multiple African countries is essential
• Strong understanding of East African business environments
• Excellent analytical and leadership skills
• Fluent in English; Swahili is an advantage
• Willingness to travel frequently within the region
