Overview
In this full-time post you lead a 28-bed male neuropsychiatric rehabilitation service, combining consultant psychiatry with medical-director responsibilities. You will oversee clinical governance, drive integrated care pathways for ABI and neurological conditions, and shape the service in line with GMC standards. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality outcomes and contribute to organizational quality and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
- Serve as Responsible Clinician and Medical Director, overseeing ward inpatients and medical services quality
- Lead clinical practice and maintain high operational standards
- Supervise consultants and ensure supervision of specialty doctors
- Provide expert knowledge and support to the service and wider team
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and regulations
- Drive integrated, whole-person care with the multidisciplinary team
- Coach, mentor and train colleagues; maintain regular medical staff communications
- Support recruitment and retention of medical staff and involvement in clinical governance
- Lead implementation of CQC outcomes with hospital managers; chair medical advisory committees
Key requirements
- Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent)
- Specialist registration (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
- Experience or knowledge in Neuropsychiatry
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and related codes
- Strong communication skills; treat and document clearly
