Overview
In this role you will lead Health, Safety and Environmental performance for a manufacturing/engineering context, advising operations and management to maintain compliance and drive improvements. You will develop and refine HSE strategies and systems, promote a strong safety culture, and support environmental and wellbeing initiatives. You will lead risk assessments, investigations, audits and training while targeting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 alignment to enable safer, more sustainable operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the HSE strategy and management systems
- Provide expert HSE guidance to managers, supervisors and teams
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching and behavioural safety initiatives
- Ensure compliance with UK and Northern Ireland HSE and Environmental legislation
- Lead risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statement reviews
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Conduct workplace inspections, internal audits and support external audits
- Deliver HSE training, inductions, toolbox talks and awareness programmes
- Support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and occupational health and wellbeing programmes
- Monitor HSE performance, analyse KPI trends and prepare improvement reports
- Assist in maintaining and developing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
Key requirements
- Previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of UK and NI legislation
- Proven experience conducting risk assessments, audits and incident investigations
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
