Senior HR Business Partner
We are looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to provide strategic and proactive HR support across the Council, with a particular focus on supporting the Children’s Division. This is a key role within the HR service, providing expert advice to managers and senior leaders while helping to develop and improve the Council’s people practices.
The successful candidate will act as a lead practitioner on complex employee relations and HR casework, organisational change and policy development. You will work closely with directorates to provide practical, outcome-focused HR solutions and support the effective implementation of workforce and organisational changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic HR Business Partner support to Council directorates, with a particular focus on Children’s Services.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on complex employee relations and HR casework.
- Support managers with organisational change, restructuring and change management programmes.
- Lead and contribute to the development, review and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure HR advice and practices reflect current employment legislation, professional standards and best practice.
- Build strong working relationships with senior managers, directors and key stakeholders.
- Provide proactive advice to help directorates achieve their workforce and organisational objectives.
- Contribute to the transformation and continuous improvement of the HR service.
- Keep up to date with changes in employment legislation, HR policy and emerging best practice.
- Lead on complex HR matters and provide professional guidance to colleagues within the HR team.
- Line manage and support HR staff, including performance management, development and professional support.
- Work independently and use professional judgement to deliver effective solutions to complex people-related issues.
About You
You will be an experienced HR professional with a strong background in HR Business Partnering, employee relations and supporting organisational change. You will have the ability to provide confident, credible HR advice to senior managers and work effectively in a complex public-sector environment.
You should have excellent knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies and procedures and best practice, together with strong communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. Experience of working within Children’s Services or a local authority environment would be highly beneficial.
You will be proactive, commercially and strategically minded, able to manage complex issues independently and committed to delivering a high-quality, customer-focused HR service.
