Overview

In this role you lead strategic wastewater catchment solutions and regulatory submissions to shape long-term investment in the North West. You work across Asset Management, Operations and Capital Delivery to align environmental outcomes with affordability. You’ll translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions and drive cross-functional collaboration to influence major programmes. Responsibilities

  • Lead development of catchment-scale wastewater solutions aligned with long-term asset strategies
  • Identify opportunities for treatment, network, and sustainable interventions across catchments
  • Evaluate nature-based solutions, storage and attenuation for optimal outcomes
  • Support regulatory submissions (PR29, WINEP, DWMP, Cost Change) with technical justification and investment rationale
  • Collaborate with Strategic Asset Managers and Risk Managers to align with regulatory priorities
  • Champion standardised approaches to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Coordinate with Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Rainwater Management and Capital Delivery teams
  • Provide technical guidance and coordination for engineers and delivery partners
  • Support transition of strategies into capital delivery programmes
  • Conduct scenario testing and optioneering to inform investment decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering methods and processes
  • Ensure solutions consider operability and whole-life performance

Key requirements

  • Significant post-graduate experience in wastewater engineering or related infrastructure
  • Professionally qualified (CEng, IEng or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary optioneering and strategic engineering activities
  • Demonstrable experience in treatment and network optimisation
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of engineering risk, asset performance and long-term planning
  • Commercial awareness including cost modelling, investment planning and affordability
  • Experience influencing investment decisions within complex organisations
  • Ability to balance agile decision-making with governance and assurance processes
