Overview

In this in-house role, you advise on regulatory risks for energy projects and support directors with risk management strategies. You will draft and review regulatory documents and ensure compliance across corporate and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with commercial, financial, and operations teams to enable timely decision‑making and minimize costs, while guiding external counsel when needed. This position offers a chance to shape regulatory risk management across UK and European assets within a respected team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and advise directors and senior managers on regulatory project risks and risk management strategies
  • Advise on, review and draft regulatory documents, procedures, applications, and agreements with internal and external counsel
  • Ensure that projects and transactions comply with relevant corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with commercial and financial specialists in negotiations and support prompt decision‑making
  • Provide proactive legal support to commercial and operations teams on in‑contract and completed projects, monitor ongoing performance to anticipate issues
  • Review or perform legal due diligence as required
  • Ensure ongoing compliance of the Business and its directors/management with legal requirements
  • Instruct, liaise with, and manage external legal counsel to minimize costs and stay within budget
  • Contribute to team know-how through research and presenting findings to colleagues

Key requirements

  • Qualified lawyer in the UK or an equivalent common law jurisdiction with at least 5 years PQE
  • Experience advising on regulatory aspects of power and infrastructure projects in a commercial context
