Overview
As Building Surveyor in Arcadis’ Education Building Surveying team, you lead capital works delivery on educational assets and deliver technical commissions such as condition surveys. You will collaborate with project managers and leaders to maintain financial control, while mentoring junior surveyors and managing multiple instructions. You’ll engage directly with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes and uphold industry standards. This role offers growth within a specialist team that supports universities, schools, trusts, and government clients, contributing to sustainable, well-managed educational facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of capital works on educational assets
- Manage and deliver technical commissions (e.g., condition surveys, dilapidations)
- Communicate project progress clearly to stakeholders
- Maintain financial control and cost-effective service in collaboration with PMs and Team Leaders
- Regularly update Sector Director on contract progress
- Mentor and supervise junior building surveyors
- Balance multiple instructions to meet deadlines and project constraints
- Understand and manage project risk and regulatory requirements
Key requirements
- Degree in Building Surveying
- MRICS qualification or working towards it (preferred)
- Excellent technical ability
