Overview
In this Senior Underwriter role, you contribute to AIG’s Casualty UK business by underwriting new and renewal work within the Risk Managed portion of the Portfolio, serving large and complex clients with tailored coverage. You’ll cultivate broker and client relationships, ensure adherence to AIG standards, and help grow a profitable book through a broker network. You’ll also support less experienced underwriters and contribute to training, policy documentation, and management information. This is a hands-on role in a collaborative, in-office culture focused on risk-based decisions and continuous development.

Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal business within the General Casualty team
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients
- Build strong client relationships and execute adopted strategies
- Focus on Risk Managed portfolio for large, complex clients with tailored coverage
- Ensure AIG procedures and standards are followed
- Prepare bespoke policy documentation
- Monitor industry practices, developments and pricing
- Produce timely management information for senior management
- Underwrite and service risks to an acceptable AIG standard
- Develop a profitable book of business through brokers
- Make informed underwriting decisions within delegated authority
- Mentor/assist less experienced underwriters and support training
- Prepare files for Self-Audits to AIG Casualty standards
Key requirements
- ACII qualified or working towards (or equivalent)
- Excellent knowledge of Casualty underwriting principles and practice
- Excellent knowledge of Liability products
- Proficient knowledge of key regulatory requirements
- Proven general underwriting experience, preferably in Casualty lines
- Excellent risk analysis and technical skills
- Ability to build relationships with brokers and senior management
