Operations Director

Overview

In this pivotal leadership role you will oversee core operational functions across delegated authority and MGA/MGU models, ensuring efficient, scalable processes. You will align underwriting, operations and finance to deliver reliable, data-driven performance improvements. You’ll shape onboarding, bordereaux operations and operational governance to support a growing UK insurance platform. This position offers a chance to drive automation, analytics and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-growing, tech-enabled insurer.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end bordereaux and delegated authority data operations
• Drive onboarding and implementation of new insurance programmes
• Manage hand-offs between Underwriting, Operations and Finance
• Lead reconciliation, reporting and operational performance analysis
• Develop operational frameworks, controls and best practices
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives
• Manage and develop an operations team
• Oversee premium collection and credit control activities
• Collaborate with technology and vendor partners to enhance capability

Key requirements

• Significant experience in commercial P&C insurance operations
• Deep delegated authority, bordereaux and data expertise
• Experience with MGAs, MGUs or carrier environments
• Strong project and programme delivery capability
• Excellent process improvement and operational optimisation skills
• Data and MI experience with Power BI, SQL and advanced Excel
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
• 10+ years’ experience in insurance operations and/or finance environments
