Shape the Future of Quality Engineering

At Compass Group UK & Ireland, we’re building a modern, in-house Quality Engineering capability and we’re looking for a talented QA Engineer to join our growing Digital & Technology team.

Working within a product squad, you’ll play a key role in embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle, helping us move from traditional testing approaches to automated, measurable, and scalable quality assurance.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll work closely with Product Owners, Developers and Platform teams to ensure our products are reliable, resilient and ready for release.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain automated tests across critical user journeys, APIs and regression scenarios.
  • Review user stories and acceptance criteria to identify quality risks early.
  • Support exploratory, integration, end-to-end, performance and non-functional testing activities.
  • Produce release assurance evidence and clear defect analysis.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers to shift testing earlier in the development lifecycle.
  • Support CI/CD quality gates and automated deployment processes.
  • Investigate defects, contribute to root cause analysis and drive quality improvements.
  • Maintain test data, environments and automation reliability.
  • Utilise AI-assisted testing tools to enhance test coverage, efficiency and insight.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working in software testing or quality assurance within agile delivery teams.
  • Understanding of test automation, API testing, exploratory testing and defect management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, test environments and non-functional testing.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and automation.

Desirable

  • Experience building or extending automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to performance, resilience, security or accessibility testing.
  • Experience using AI-assisted testing tools.
  • Participation in QA communities of practice, testing guilds or quality initiatives.
