Overview

In this role you will develop, validate and optimise automated and semi-automated welding processes within a high‑quality manufacturing environment. You will maintain robust welding procedures, support NPI, and drive quality and safety compliance. You’ll collaborate across Engineering, Quality and Production to implement continuous improvements. This is a hands‑on position with a focus on precision, reliability and cross‑functional impact in a global steam systems business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate and optimise automated and semi-automated welding processes
  • Define and control critical welding parameters for repeatable, high-quality welds
  • Create and maintain WPS, PQRs and work instructions
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 15614, ISO 3834, ASME and customer requirements
  • Provide technical support to resolve weld quality issues and lead root cause analysis
  • Support specification, commissioning and validation of automated welding equipment
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma principles
  • Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain and Maintenance
  • Provide training and technical guidance to operators and technicians

Key requirements

  • Proven experience with automated or robotic welding systems (orbital welding desirable)
  • Strong understanding of welding principles and metallurgy
  • Experience supporting production and NPI in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of weld inspection methods and quality systems
  • Experience with engineering drawings, weld symbols and specifications
  • Structured problem-solving approach
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality
  • Effective communicator with cross‑team influence
