Overview

Senior Data Scientist for spatial analytics at PureGym, shaping where to open gyms, pricing and retention. Lead end-to-end spatial models from prototype to production, collaborating with Property and Finance to deliver measurable business value. You’ll translate commercial questions into analytics and explain uncertainty to stakeholders. This role offers ownership, impact, and the chance to advance PureGym’s spatial capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own spatial and location models from prototype to production-ready assets
  • Build catchment, location and demand models to understand markets and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Property and Finance to translate commercial questions into analytics
  • Rigorously validate models with out-of-time testing and uncertainty measures
  • Develop approaches for locations with limited historical data
  • Work with Engineering and Data teams to create reusable data assets
  • Partner with MLOps to deploy, monitor and retrain models with proper versioning
  • Translate model outputs into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Evaluate external models with technical rigor and set standards for assessment
  • Contribute to shared development standards and peer review
  • Help shape the future of spatial analytics and identify method/tool improvements

Key requirements

  • Strong data science fundamentals with geospatial expertise
  • Several years of applied DS experience with geospatial models
  • Retail/real estate relevance preferred
  • Strong Python and SQL; write maintainable, tested code
  • Experience with Python geospatial stack and PySpark on Databricks
  • Working knowledge of dbt, MLflow and production deployment patterns
  • Experience taking models from prototype to production and monitoring
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
