Overview
As Commercial Senior Financial Analyst, you partner with Corporate and Major New Business Sales to inform profitable decisions through robust financial insight and modelling. You will drive sales-driven finance support, challenge assumptions, and lead financial modelling for new opportunities, influencing business performance. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with Sales and Operations to optimise profitability and governance of incentive schemes. You will shape data-driven decisions through advanced analytics and automation. This is a high-impact, commercially-focused finance partner role within a mission-driven waste management company.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Corporate and Major New Business Sales to provide commercial finance insight during the sales and tender process
- Deliver insightful financial reporting including month-end, budgeting, and forecasting to identify drivers, risks and opportunities
- Analyse sales and commercial performance (win/loss trends and profitability drivers) to improve conversion and overall performance
- Lead calculation and governance of sales incentive schemes with accurate reporting
- Drive process improvements and stronger business partnering using data and systems (Power BI, SharePoint, Excel) to automate and enhance finance processes
Key requirements
- Commercial finance experience (minimum 2 years) in finance, accounting or financial analysis, ideally in sales/tendering/new business
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills to assess profitability and influence decisions
- Qualified accountant preferred (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) though not essential; experience with month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; interest in data, automation and tech-enabled processes
- Strong stakeholder management with ability to challenge assumptions and communicate complex finance to non-finance
- Highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented with ability to manage competing priorities; full UK driving licence and travel flexibility to Biffa sites
