Civil Design Engineer

Overview

In this Civil Design Engineer role, you contribute to potable water and wastewater projects within Skanska’s Anglian Water programme. You’ll develop compliant, safe, and sustainable civil designs, supporting the project from feasibility through detailed design in a Design and Build setting. You join a collaborative Infrastructure team delivering major water infrastructure to protect resources. This is a chance to shape critical assets and work with cross-functional partners on a multi-billion investment.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil design solutions for water and wastewater schemes
• Support design from feasibility to detailed design in a Design and Build environment
• Apply British Standards, Eurocodes, CIRIA and BRE guidance to infrastructure design
• Coordinate complex activities to achieve project milestones
• Engage with stakeholders in a collaborative and transparent manner
• Deliver design calculations for pipework, bedding, thrust blocks, manholes, shafts and attenuation structures
• Travel across the region as required to support project delivery
• Contribute to ongoing performance improvement within the design team

Key requirements

• Experience in the water sector and capital projects is advantageous
• Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng/MSc) with strong academic record (minimum 2:1)
• Knowledge of design calculations for infrastructure projects and related guidance
• Experience in a Design and Build environment is beneficial
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status desirable (CEng MICE)
• Strong stakeholder management and collaborative mindset
• Proficiency with IT systems and openness to new technology
• Willingness to travel across the region
