AI Tech Consultant – Private Equity / M&A – London | BCG Platinion

Overview

In this IT Consultant role within BCG Platinion’s Tech-in-Private-Equity team, you help leading PE funds and portfolio companies address strategic technology challenges across the deal lifecycle. You collaborate with investment professionals, CTOs and CPOs to assess product and tech strength in due diligence and to define value-creation plans through product innovation and technology modernization. The role blends hands-on technology expertise with strategic thinking to unlock value and shape deal outcomes. Responsibilities

• Pre-Deal: Product & Tech Due Diligence – assess strength, scalability and differentiation of target platforms
• Post-Deal: Product-Led Value Creation – support leadership in defining and executing value creation plans
• Collaborate with BCG case teams and industry experts to translate technical insight into business value
• Engage with investment professionals, CTOs and CPOs to address strategic technology questions across the deal lifecycle
• Differentiate advisory by bringing real-world technology expertise to deal and commercial implications

Key requirements

• 3–5 years’ experience in technology strategy, product management, software engineering, or digital transformation with a consulting background
• PE/M&A experience is desirable but not required
• Strategic thinker with understanding of software product economics and its impact on deal value
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a customer focus and results orientation
• Solid understanding of modern software product development (architecture, APIs/microservices, cloud, DevOps) and familiarity with data and AI/ML technologies
• Ability to work under pressure and travel internationally
• University degree in STEM-related field or business management; MBA/MSc advantageous
