We are currently working with a well-established specialist contractor within the building envelope and façade sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a background in façades, cladding, roofing or the wider building envelope to take ownership of design delivery across a range of technically challenging projects.
The Role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure designs are technically compliant, commercially viable and delivered to programme.
- Managing the design process across multiple building envelope projects.
- Coordinating design teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and design information.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, standards and project requirements.
- Managing design programmes, deliverables and technical submissions.
- Identifying and resolving design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Supporting pre-construction and tender activities where required.
- Working closely with Commercial and Project teams to manage design changes and associated costs.
- Attending design, client and project meetings.
- Ensuring effective communication between design and construction teams.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Design Manager / Senior Designer / Design Coordinator position within the building envelope, façade, cladding or construction sector.
- Strong technical understanding of façade and/or building envelope systems.
- Experience managing design packages from concept through to construction.
- Ability to interpret and review technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and relevant UK standards/regulations.
- Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- A proactive approach with strong attention to technical detail.
