Job Description:

Talent Programmes Officer – London

Shape the future of talent at one of the world’s greatest cultural institutions.

Would you like to help people take their first steps into a rewarding career? Do you believe in creating opportunities that are inclusive, accessible and life-changing?

At the British Museum, we’re looking for a Talent Programmes Officer to play a key role in developing and supporting our apprentices, interns and early-career colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by helping people build skills, gain confidence and thrive in their careers, while contributing to the future workforce of a globally renowned organisation.

As Talent Programmes Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our apprenticeship and early-career initiatives, combining programme management with meaningful people-focused support. You’ll work closely with apprentices, managers, training providers and colleagues across the Museum to create an outstanding experience for participants from the moment they join through to successful completion and progression.

You’ll oversee apprenticeship programmes, ensuring learners are supported, funding is managed effectively and compliance requirements are met. You’ll monitor progress, maintain accurate records, maximise levy utilisation and work proactively to resolve challenges before they impact learning or development.

Beyond apprenticeships, you’ll help design and deliver engaging early-career experiences, from inductions and development workshops to networking events, manager briefings and progression opportunities. You’ll also build valuable partnerships with schools, colleges, universities and community organisations, helping us widen access to opportunities and attract diverse talent.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong organisation and attention to detail with a genuine passion for supporting people to succeed. You’ll bring experience of coordinating apprenticeship or early-career programmes, a good understanding of apprenticeship funding and levy requirements, and confidence working with data, systems and reporting. Most importantly, you’ll be a collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused individual who is committed to helping others develop and reach their potential.

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a tangible impact on people’s careers and lives.
  • Help shape the Museum’s future talent pipeline.
  • Work with a wide range of colleagues and external partners.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning, development and inclusion.
  • Play a key role in delivering programmes that create meaningful pathways into work.

If you’re passionate about developing talent and creating opportunities for people to grow, we’d love to hear from you.
