Overview

In this role you will safeguard the quality and safety of fresh products across UK distribution sites as part of the Produce & Horticulture team. You’ll lead inspections, ensure timely quality data sharing, and drive continuous improvement to protect customer satisfaction and reduce waste. You will collaborate with cross-functional QA and operations teams, champion a quality culture in depots, and support central technical trials. This is a field-based role with meaningful impact on end-to-end product quality across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a dispersed QA team to ensure adherence to inspection schedules and processes
  • Oversee inspection reporting to deliver high-quality, timely data in daily, weekly, and period cycles
  • Inspect incoming products against specifications and set temporary specs when needed
  • Support the Morrisons Quality Check programme through seasonal product assessments and continuous quality improvements
  • Promote a quality culture in depots by coaching handling/picking standards and challenging risky practices
  • Manage product withdrawals and recalls with urgency, including supplier/store visits
  • Provide technical expertise to reduce waste, improve availability, and support central trials and projects
  • Collaborate with internal QA, supplier technical teams, and RDC leadership across the UK

Key requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ QA experience with fresh food categories
  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce, horticulture, or end-to-end supply chain operations (farm to store)
  • Excellent communication, numerical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to make fast, technically sound decisions under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
