Overview
In this role you will provide route-wide engineering oversight across a major rail infrastructure programme, supporting multidisciplinary disciplines and complex engineering decisions. You will work with contractors, senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure technical, contractual and assurance compliance. The position emphasizes mentorship of Project Engineers and delivering practical solutions to route-wide challenges. You will be embedded in a high-impact project that shapes the 82 km corridor from Great Missenden to Southam, with hybrid working and site presence as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering oversight across ~82 km of infrastructure works
- Manage complex technical issues and changes during construction
- Review technical queries and ensure technical assurance is completed
- Engage with contractors, subcontractors and senior stakeholders to reach solutions
- Understand and consider commercial and contractual implications of engineering decisions
- Coordinate engineering matters across structures, highways, earthworks and other disciplines
- Identify route-wide issues and coordinate their resolution
- Mentor Project Engineers and developing colleagues
Key requirements
- Experience delivering engineering within major civil engineering, rail, highways or infrastructure construction
- Understanding of structures, highways and earthworks; multidisciplinary experience valued
- Familiarity with technical assurance, engineering change and construction contracts
- Ability to challenge contractors and senior stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and experience working with commercial teams
