Senior Software Developer

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Joule Direct team, you will help accelerate reliability, scalability, and performance of a high-throughput energy trading platform. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to connect to exchanges, build customer-facing features, and improve observability in hot paths. You’ll work on challenging problems, mentor peers, and help shape features from planning through delivery. This role offers hands-on impact in a dynamic, learning-oriented environment with a strong focus on collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Improve connectivity to exchanges or brokers (e.g., CME, ICE, EEX)
• Implement customer-facing features via SDKs and APIs
• Enhance observability in critical code paths
• Develop a new Automated Trading feature
• Benchmark and optimize latency and throughput
• Mentor and coach junior engineers
• Design, plan and execute complex features and RFCs

Key requirements

• Experience with financial markets is valued
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong knowledge of C#, Rust or other popular languages
• Ability to write efficient, concurrent code
• Knowledge of distributed systems
• Familiarity with version control systems
