Overview

In this role you will lead grid code compliance and power systems delivery for Statkraft’s renewable portfolio, including BESS, wind, solar and hybrid projects. You will coordinate with project teams, consultants and operators to translate regulatory requirements into actionable plans and technical submissions. You’ll oversee planning and testing of power system studies, and advise on design and commissioning to ensure compliance and performance. Responsibilities

  • Lead Grid Code and G99 compliance activities with clear deliverables and project programmes
  • Manage power system studies: load flow, fault level, reactive power, harmonics, stability, RMS/EMT
  • Challenge consultant/OEM study methodologies and assess impact on design, commissioning and compliance
  • Coordinate technical submissions with NESO, Transmission Owners and DNOs; manage evidence and compliance close-out
  • Define plant control and integration requirements (BESS, EMS, AVR, grid-forming controls) and network interfaces
  • Support BESS and synchronous condenser projects; lead grid connection and performance/compliance activities for wind and solar
  • Work with project managers to identify risks, review designs and submissions, and support procurement
  • Provide technical leadership across design, construction and commissioning; mentor other engineers

Key requirements

  • Experience in transmission-connected generation, energy storage, grid support or major distribution-connected projects
  • Strong knowledge of Grid Code and G99; experience with power system studies, commissioning and compliance
  • Ability to challenge methodologies, assumptions and results; strong technical communication
  • Knowledge of voltage/reactive power control, frequency response, fault ride-through, harmonics and power quality
  • Experience with interfaces between consultants, OEMs, EPCs and network operators; HV substation knowledge
  • Experience with BESS, synchronous condensers, wind or solar; grid-forming BESS experience advantageous
  • Experience with RMS/EMT tools (PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSSE) desirable; hands-on modelling not essential
  • Knowledge of NESO and DNO processes, EON/ION/FON; UK 132/275/400 kV connections advantageous
