Overview
In this role you will lead the CAMHS inpatient and acute care pathway across Greater Manchester, providing strategic and operational leadership to a large multidisciplinary team. You will drive service transformation, improve equity of access, and reduce avoidable admissions, while ensuring high-quality, compassionate care close to home. You’ll work with senior NHS leaders and partner networks to shape services for children and young people with complex needs. This is a high-visibility role that combines clinical quality with system leadership in a mission-driven setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the CAMHS inpatient service and broader acute care pathway
- Drive service improvement, innovation, and transformation aligned with priorities
- Provide inclusive leadership across nursing, therapeutic, medical and admin teams
- Ensure quality, governance, safeguarding, patient experience and regulatory compliance
- Oversee workforce planning, staff development, performance, budgets and resource use
- Manage patient flow, bed management and system-wide capacity planning
- Build partnerships with young people, families, commissioners, local authorities and other providers
- Represent Pennine Care as lead provider and contribute to regional strategic decisions
Key requirements
- Registration as RMN or equivalent with current licence
- Experience of mental health inpatient ward management (Band 7)
- Leading multidisciplinary teams, chairing meetings and case management
- Project management and business planning
- Clinical and management supervision experience
- Experience in CAMHS inpatient unit or work with young adults
- Ability to work across organisational boundaries and balance operational pressures with strategic vision
