Airside Safety Improvement Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead airside safety improvement programmes, driving risk-based interventions across the operation. You’ll partner with operations, airlines, ground handlers, regulators, and partners to strengthen safety culture and deliver measurable improvements. You will use data-driven insights and industry best practice to support Heathrow’s goal of being the world’s most responsible airport. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery in a dynamic, high-visibility environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of strategic airside safety improvement programmes and initiatives
• Analyse safety data, trends, incidents, and near misses to identify improvement opportunities
• Develop and implement risk mitigation plans addressing operational safety challenges
• Monitor safety interventions for measurable impact and ongoing effectiveness
• Produce reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior leaders and governance forums
• Support compliance with aviation regulations, SMS, and industry best practice

Key requirements

• Proven experience delivering safety improvement programmes in aviation or similar complex environments
• Strong understanding of risk management and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience analysing data and translating findings into practical safety solutions
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across organisations
