Overview
In this role you will provide procurement leadership across major bids and programmes to deliver robust commercial solutions aligned with business goals. You will collaborate with Engineering, Programmes, Commercial and Finance to support informed decisions and secure best-value outcomes. You will lead supplier selection, negotiations and contract execution while managing strategic supplier relationships and mitigating risks. You will promote procurement best practices, mentor colleagues, and ensure governance and regulatory compliance within a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver procurement, sourcing and subcontracting strategies aligned with bid requirements and programme objectives
- Lead procurement activity across major bids and programmes with governance, budget and schedule alignment
- Provide procurement leadership within cross-functional teams to support informed decision-making
- Lead supplier selection, tendering, proposal evaluation, negotiations and contract execution
- Develop and manage strategic supplier and subcontractor relationships to improve cost, quality, delivery and resilience
- Identify, assess and mitigate commercial, contractual and supply chain risks to ensure continuity of supply
- Ensure procurement activities comply with governance requirements, export controls, information security obligations and customer regulatory requirements
- Champion procurement best practice, continuous improvement and capability development, and mentor colleagues
Key requirements
- Significant procurement, supply chain or subcontract management experience in aerospace, defence, aviation, engineering or other highly regulated technical environments
- Experience supporting major bids, complex programmes and cross-functional project delivery activities
- Strong commercial and contractual negotiation capability including supplier selection, tendering and contract placement
- Proven experience managing strategic suppliers, subcontractors, supplier performance and supply chain risk
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with ability to challenge constructively
- Strong analytical and commercial skills including cost modelling, supplier performance analysis and risk assessment
- Knowledge of procurement governance, regulatory compliance and supplier relationship management best practice
- MCIPS, degree-level education or equivalent professional procurement experience advantageous
