Overview

In this role you will support the design, coordination and delivery of electrical works within Southern Water projects. You will work across design and on-site delivery, ensuring electrical installations meet drawings, specs and standards while resolving technical issues. You’ll collaborate with site teams, designers and subcontractors to keep projects on track. This is a site-focused opportunity within a long-term water sector framework, offering exposure to design, build and handover activities. You will contribute to safe, compliant project execution and continuous improvement on live water infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, coordination and delivery of electrical works across Southern Water projects
  • Review and develop electrical designs, specifications and technical documentation
  • Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, designers and the wider project team
  • Provide technical input throughout the design and construction stages
  • Ensure electrical installations are delivered in line with drawings, specifications and relevant standards
  • Identify and resolve technical and engineering issues during project delivery
  • Coordinate design changes and ensure these are communicated effectively to site teams
  • Assist with procurement and selection of electrical equipment and subcontractors
  • Monitor quality, programme and progress of electrical works on site
  • Support testing, commissioning and project handover activities
  • Ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with client and company requirements

Key requirements

  • Electrical engineering background with approximately 5 years’ experience in a Project Engineer or similar role
  • Experience working across both electrical design and construction/delivery
  • Previous experience within the water sector would be highly advantageous
  • Experience working for a contractor or design-and-build organisation would be beneficial
  • Good understanding of electrical installations, equipment and associated engineering standards
  • Able to interpret and review electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Comfortable working closely with site-based construction teams and subcontractors
