Overview

In this role you will support delivery of major infrastructure planning projects within a market-leading team. You will advise on planning policy, manage development applications, and coordinate multidisciplinary delivery. You will work with clients and colleagues to assess risks, prepare planning documents, and ensure coordinated delivery with the EIA team. The opportunity combines UK-wide projects, hybrid working, and a path to Chartered status through RTPI credentials. You will contribute to high-profile projects that shape energy, transport and urban development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and delivery of major development applications
  • Provide planning advice to colleagues and clients, applying permitted development rights
  • Carry out planning research and analysis and identify planning risks
  • Prepare Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements to support applications
  • Coordinate with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team for coordinated delivery
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across various project types
  • Support project management activities and delivery outcomes
  • Implement quality assurance and health and safety principles
  • Contribute to preparation of successful commercial tenders
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and build stakeholder relationships

Key requirements

  • Licentiate Member of RTPI or equivalent and working towards full accreditation
  • Experience on major planning applications
  • Knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation
  • Experience with Development Consent Order (DCO) and/or Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO)
  • Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) legislation
  • Experience identifying and managing planning risk
  • Commercial awareness and ability to write clearly
  • Consultancy experience including budgets and programmes
  • Client-focused with collaborative, multi-disciplinary team experience
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)
