Overview

In this role you will design, build, and operate services for a high-availability, multi-asset trading platform on AWS. You’ll work with engineers and partners to deliver resilient, observable software using modern Java and microservices patterns, while shaping technical direction. You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders and apply strong engineering practices to ensure quality and maintainability. This is a hands-on leadership role with ownership and opportunities to grow in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy services aligned to business needs
  • Develop Java-based services using reactive, non-blocking, streaming patterns
  • Implement microservices and event-driven integrations for real-time workloads
  • Evolve domain-driven design practices and service boundaries
  • Use Kubernetes to run scalable services
  • Apply caching with Redis to improve performance and resilience
  • Participate in code reviews and promote TDD/BDD practices
  • Support performance testing and resilience validation
  • Communicate progress, trade-offs, and risks to senior stakeholders
  • Leverage AI-assisted SDLC tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining controls

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Hands-on proficiency in Java and production-quality code
  • Experience building distributed systems with real-time data
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices
  • Knowledge of microservices and service-oriented design
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging
  • Experience with streaming/messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, IBM MQ)
  • Experience with caching technologies (e.g., Redis, GemFire, Apache Ignite)
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience in agile teams with strong engineering hygiene
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver with ownership
