We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV & Plant Engineer / Technician to join a small, established engineering team working on a permanent basis in Leyland.
Salary: Up to £49,400 – £54,340 per annum, depending on experience plus holidays, pension etc.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm
Working alongside a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of HGVs, trailers, vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities for the HGV Technician
- Carry out routine inspections, servicing, maintenance, repairs and MOT preparation on HGVs, trailers, vehicles and plant.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
- Dismantle, repair and replace faulty components and carry out testing to ensure equipment is operating safely.
- Carry out maintenance and inspections to the required standards.
- Liaise with the workshop team to identify and order required parts.
- Complete all relevant maintenance documentation and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Work effectively as part of a small team while managing workload and meeting deadlines.
About the HGV Technician:
- 4+ years’ experience working as an HGV / Plant Technician.
- Apprentice-trained and qualified to C&G or NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Repair, or equivalent.
- Experience working with HGVs and plant equipment.
- Experience preparing tractor units and trailers for MOT.
- Good mechanical, hydraulic and auto-electrical knowledge.
- Basic welding skills.
- Experience carrying out LOLER inspections.
- Ability to work safely and responsibly under pressure.
- HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence – desirable.
- IRTEC accreditation – desirable.
- LEEA / LOLER competence – desirable.
