Overview
As Senior Product Manager for Billing and Accounting in Amazon Shipping, you will drive an integrated invoice-to-cash lifecycle, consolidating fragmented billing systems into a standardized flow. You translate complex billing needs into scalable product requirements and partner with finance, tax, and engineering to ensure accurate, compliant financial outcomes. You’ll shape the billing platform to support rapid growth across regions, currencies, and payment methods. This role sits at the crossroads of finance, operations, and engineering, delivering measurable improvements in billing accuracy, cash flow, and reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Own execution of defined billing and accounting product workstreams within the charter, aligning financial experiences with growth and control
- Write product narratives and requirements to define new capabilities across operations, pricing, accounting, tax, and engineering
- Balance near-term operational/compliance needs with long-term consolidation of a billing platform
- Collaborate with engineering to deliver billing capabilities into the platform and daily tools used by operations
- Define sequencing and scope tradeoffs to deliver incremental impact while protecting live financial operations
- Set clear acceptance criteria for operational and accounting adoption
- Own billing accuracy and reconciliation as primary success measures with related metrics such as dispute rate and days-sales-outstanding
- Establish continuous visibility, baselining, and risk identification mechanisms
- Quantify impact on revenue assurance, cost to serve, and customer trust, and report results to leadership
- Build cross-functional alignment across operations, pricing, payments, accounting, tax, and engineering
- Represent shipper and operations needs in product decisions
- Drive regional adoption of new billing capabilities as systems consolidate
Key requirements
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- End-to-end product delivery experience
- Experience delivering billing, invoicing, payments, or financial-systems products
- Experience as a product manager or owner
- Ability to translate regulatory, accounting, and customer requirements into crisp product requirements
- Strong communication across functional, operations, and leadership audiences
- Bias for action with judgment to navigate decision doors (one-way vs two-way)
- Track record of delivering customer and business outcomes through accurate billing and reconciliation
