Overview
In this role you will shape civil design for major water and wastewater projects from feasibility to construction, supporting Thames Water’s expanded AMP8 work. You will collaborate with commercial, operations and construction teams to deliver safe, compliant solutions and drive standard designs and digital tools. The position sits in a Reading-based team delivering end-to-end civil design across a broad regional programme. You will mentor engineers and ensure buildable, integrated outcomes that align with the client’s broader goals.

Responsibilities
- Provide design support and ensure designs are fit for purpose and compliant with legislation and standards
- Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, safe solutions across design, construction and beyond
- Manage client relationships with a one-team approach to support project aims
- Coordinate interface and integration of civil design with other disciplines and produce documentation
- Act as technical checker and perform technical reviews across projects
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery with standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools
- Conduct site reviews to verify buildability and integration with existing systems
- Support civil engineering team development through coaching and resource planning
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
- Experience delivering high-quality outputs to design, quality, and safety standards
