Overview

In this senior role you lead the Trust’s fire safety service, shaping strategy and ensuring compliance across a multi-site estate. You advise the Board and senior leaders, leveraging NHS fire safety expertise to drive continuous improvement and risk reduction. You will manage a specialist team, coordinate with clinical teams and capital projects, and influence at the highest level to safeguard patients, staff and visitors. This is a strategically important, high-visibility position that supports the Trust’s commitment to safe, sustainable healthcare delivery. Responsibilities

  • Lead the fire safety service, developing policies, strategies, risk assessments and long‑term improvement programmes
  • Oversee audits, fire safety systems, equipment, training, incident investigations and compliance across acute and community sites
  • Provide authoritative advice and assurance to senior leaders and the Board on fire safety matters
  • Manage the fire safety team, budgets and suppliers; monitor performance and present complex information to the Board
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, capital projects, contractors and emergency services to ensure effective fire risk control and continuous improvement

Key requirements

  • IF/E Member and IFSM Member
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in operational fire safety management
  • IFSM Fire Risk Assessment Validation
  • IFPA Fire Safety Design of Buildings (optional/advantage)
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Fire Safety Manager in the NHS
  • Expert knowledge of fire safety legislation and NHS HTM 05
