Overview

As a Flood Modeller / Engineer at Amey, you contribute to flood management design and modelling within the Flooding and Water Management team in Scotland. You will progress projects from feasibility through detailed design, collaborating with cross-functional teams on schemes for Local Authorities and national infrastructure clients. You will develop technically sound solutions while upholding governance and environmental considerations, with clear opportunities for professional growth and qualification. This role offers exposure to high-impact flood risk projects within a leading engineering consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake preliminary and detailed modelling and design of Flood Management projects
  • Prepare modelling reports including GIS mapping, and contract specifications and bills of quantities for projects
  • Provide supervision and management of contracts for both minor and major projects
  • Undertake feasibility, outline and detailed design studies
  • Contribute to the development of tender documents for small and large scale procurements
  • Undertake work relating to the programme management of Flood Management Improvement Schemes
  • Procure surveys and other field works

Key requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in an appropriate subject
  • Post qualification experience in feasibility, design, supervision and overall management of flood management projects
  • Experience in Infoworks ICM, FloodModeller or HecRas and hydrological modelling techniques
  • Incorporated Engineer status or agreement to a training programme towards Chartered Engineer or Water Management status as defined by the Engineering Council
  • Understanding of technical governance procedures in a consulting engineering environment
  • Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions
  • Interest or experience in environmentally sustainable delivery of works
  • Experience in project-related health, safety, and welfare tasks
  • Familiarity with governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment
