In this role you will deliver advanced energy modelling to support Net Zero ambitions within Arup’s sustainability-focused Property London team. You will guide graduates and apprentices, ensuring models reflect design intent and inform development. You will collaborate with mechanical designers and contribute to training and research to advance modelling methods. Responsibilities
- Perform advanced energy modelling for TM54, NABERS, LEED and bespoke project requirements using IES-VE (APACHE HVAC) and other analytics tools
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers/modellers in delivering accurate energy models
- Collaborate with project mechanical designers to align models with design and inform development
- Review and assist with Part L energy/compliance models
- Develop training resources and deliver advanced energy modelling training
- Contribute to research to improve tools and approaches for advanced energy modelling
- Travel nationally and internationally as needed
Key requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience using IES VE with APACHE HVAC for advanced modelling (TM54, NABERS or LEED)
- Experience in a range of energy modelling activities (planning, energy performance, compliance, thermal comfort) and familiarity with Building Regulations Part L
- Experience/awareness of TM54, BREEAM Ene01, NABERS UK and/or LEED
- Data analysis experience using Excel
- Understanding of building HVAC systems and controls
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Architectural Engineering or Building Physics
- Working towards chartership with CIBSE, IMechE or other Engineering Council body
- Possession or interest in qualifications as Low Carbon Consultant, Low Carbon Energy Assessor, Non-domestic Energy Assessor
- Interest in SAP and domestic energy assessment
- Active participation in energy modelling/ sustainability industry events
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Autonomous, focused, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
