Overview

In this role you lead a professional services team delivering administrative support for students and staff within teaching and research programmes. You will oversee teaching and learning activity in your service area and collaborate with academic leads and the wider professional services network. You drive process improvements, quality control, and reporting to enhance the student experience and service delivery. The position offers the chance to shape educational administration in a large, service‑oriented university. You will work in a diverse, inclusive environment that supports staff development and flexible working.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a professional services team providing administrative support for education and research delivery
  • Oversee teaching and learning activity in your service area, aligning with university regulations and codes of practice
  • Ensure quality control, data accuracy, and reporting for management and institutional needs
  • Support process improvements and service delivery capability; act as liaison across College and University
  • Recruit, develop and mentor staff; manage performance and maintain inclusive culture
  • Coordinate complex project work related to education and administration
  • Represent your area on university working groups or committees as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data in compliance with policy and law

Key requirements

  • Degree level education (or equivalent) with substantial experience in a senior administrative role
  • Experience in customer-service oriented environments
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, with strong collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to communicate across all levels and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Ability to influence change, evaluate options, and manage deadlines
  • Excellent IT literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience setting up and maintaining complex working systems
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in education administration
  • Knowledge of Equality Act protections and inclusive practices
