Overview

In questa role you will lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects, shaping safe, compliant infrastructure. You collaborate with cross-functional teams across the UK, driving high-quality, deliverable designs from feasibility to construction. You’ll work with clients and internal stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and help advance AECOM’s digital design tools. Responsibilities

  • Design and review electrical and ICA elements for water/wastewater projects; perform site surveys and coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers
  • Prepare load schedules, single line diagrams, MCC general arrangements, instrument schedules, and electrical installation and cable calculations
  • Develop and validate PLC/SCADA systems, control philosophy, URS, specifications, and technical reports; contribute to P&ID input and data gathering
  • Engage in all design stages (Feasibility to Construction) ensuring compliance with national and international standards
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams locally and nationwide; communicate with clients throughout design and planning phases
  • Delegate tasks, mentor junior staff, and contribute to bid preparation and client interface for proposals
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality designs within budgets; produce and review client deliverables (calculations, drawings, technical reports)
  • Support digital strategy adoption (BIM, ProjectWise, intelligent P&ID, in-house tools) on projects
  • Help shape digital offerings and use them to improve quality and consistency in design processes
  • Join a large, inclusive Water team delivering a range of projects from small initiatives to large-scale ventures

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in the design of water and wastewater deliverables with multi-disciplinary knowledge
  • BEng in Engineering (minimum); MEng acceptable as an alternative
  • Chartered or near-Chartered with a Professional Institution
  • Experience at a senior engineer level in a consultancy within the water sector
  • Experience managing projects, delegating tasks, and providing technical mentoring
