Overview

In this role you will discharge Principal Contractor duties on major 400kV+ power projects, leading multidisciplinary site teams to deliver on time, safely and to high quality. You will work within a collaborative, technically driven environment to manage RAMS, permits and site plans across live construction activities. The position focuses on safe delivery, stakeholder coordination and adherence to CDM regulations in high-voltage settings. This is an opportunity to shape project delivery across transmission and distribution schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Discharge Principal Contractor responsibilities under CDM 2015
  • Develop and manage the Construction Phase Plan and site management arrangements
  • Coordinate civil, mechanical and electrical works on site
  • Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring safety, efficiency and timely delivery
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, direct labour and stakeholders on site
  • Review and implement RAMS, permits and work packs
  • Monitor progress, resources, plant and materials; take corrective action
  • Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, audits and safety briefings

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in Site Manager / PCSM on Transmission & Distribution or substation projects
  • National Grid SR163 accreditation and SMSTS with IOSH, or NEBOSH certification
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities
  • Experience managing Civil, Mechanical and Electrical substation construction
  • Proven ability reviewing RAMS, managing Temporary Works and completing ITPs
  • Strong knowledge of site setup, coordination and project delivery
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Valid CSCS Card and relevant site-based certification
