Overview

As a Senior Fire Engineer, you will lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies for diverse projects, guiding design through concept to handover. You’ll act as Technical Lead on bids and oversee fire modelling and smoke control, working with multidisciplinary teams. You’ll build strong client relationships and champion fire-safety integration across disciplines. Responsibilities

  • Deliver fire strategies for healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences and regeneration projects across the UK and internationally
  • Provide guidance across all project stages from concept to handover
  • Oversee fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
  • Ensure design solutions comply with regulations, standards and Stantec quality processes (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN)
  • Act as Technical Lead on major bids and complex multidisciplinary schemes
  • Lead client meetings, workshops, and regulatory consultations; provide commercially aware advice
  • Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
  • Support growth of the Fire Engineering service within the Buildings group and contribute to fee proposals and strategic pursuits
  • Mentor junior Fire Engineers and foster technical excellence and knowledge-sharing
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and thought leadership within Stantec’s Fire Engineering community

Key requirements

  • Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
  • Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
  • Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
