As Principal Building Services Engineer you will provide technical leadership across complex building-services projects within a leading infrastructure consultancy. You will shape designs for public-sector and secure environments, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes. You’ll lead engineering delivery, mentor teams and coordinate with architects, clients and contractors to keep schemes on track. Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of mechanical or electrical building-services designs across complex projects
- Produce, review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineers and technicians
- Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, contractors, clients and other stakeholders
- Manage technical quality, design assurance and delivery against programme requirements
- Support project planning, resource management and commercial delivery
- Attend design reviews, client meetings and technical discussions
- Undertake site surveys, inspections and support delivery within live operational environments
- Contribute to bids, proposals and wider business development activities
Key requirements
- Significant experience in building-services engineering within a consultancy, contractor or multidisciplinary environment
- A relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification
- Strong experience delivering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports
- Experience leading engineering packages and coordinating multidisciplinary projects
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations and design practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical development
- Chartered status or working towards professional registration
