Overview

In this role you lead a PMO-as-a-Service delivery, driving governance, delivery assurance and value across a complex portfolio. You’ll manage a five-person PMO Delivery team, shaping an outcomes-based service with clear deliverables, KPIs and measurable business impact. You will translate client objectives into a structured delivery plan and present executive insights and recommendations. Your work focuses on client value, portfolio visibility, risk and financial control, while fostering a proactive, insight-led culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day PMO-as-a-Service delivery with defined outcomes, KPIs and milestones
  • Own an outcomes-based PMO service with clear ownership and measurable success criteria
  • Translate client objectives into a structured service delivery plan for the PMO team
  • Assign ownership, target dates and measures of success for all deliverables
  • Demonstrate client value through improved portfolio visibility, governance, delivery performance and cost control
  • Establish and maintain a PMO service scorecard covering KPIs and portfolio health
  • Provide executive-ready reporting and highlight progress and priorities
  • Promote a proactive, outcomes-focused delivery model over an activity-led approach
  • Identify opportunities for continuous service improvement and automation
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of five PMO Delivery resources
  • Conduct regular performance discussions and ensure quality of outputs for senior stakeholders
  • Serve as escalation point for complex delivery and governance matters

Key requirements

  • Proven PMO/Programme/Delivery Management experience in a complex environment
  • Strong governance, controls and delivery assurance knowledge
  • Experience with budgets, forecasts, resource plans and delivery performance
  • Risk, issue, dependency and change management skills
  • Experience producing executive-level dashboards and management information
  • Excellent stakeholder management and senior-level influence
  • Resource management across multiple workstreams
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement; standardisation
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall and/or hybrid methodologies
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills using data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience leading or coordinating PMO professionals and project teams
  • Client-facing and relationship management capability
  • Understanding of IT, technology or business transformation environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow and/or Power BI desirable
  • Desirable: PRINCE2/PMP/IPMA or equivalent; Agile/Scrum certification; consultancy experience; commercial/supplier management; PMO Frameworks
