A reputable Main Contractor delivering intricate refurbishment projects nationwide, with a very healthy order book. Due to natural expansion, the organisation has a requirement for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in South West Glasgow.

n

Applicants must be able to demonstrate contractor-side commercial experience, ideally with a refurbishment or specialist contractor. Experience on traditional, listed or heritage buildings is a strong advantage but not essential.

Your New Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Contractor that can offer career progression and exposure to challenging projects.

n

n

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for advising on contract conditions and commercial matters and maintaining accurate financial control systems including, but not limited to:

n

n

·       Prepare and submit tenders, from initial enquiry through to final submission.

n

·       Produce material take-offs and pricing— stonemasonry, lime work, slate roofing, leadwork, and joinery.

n

·       Obtain, review, and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to secure best value.

n

·       Interpret tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify commercial risk and opportunity.

n

·       Maintain up-to-date commercial awareness of material and labour costs across the sector, feeding this into pricing and bid strategy.

n

·       Undertake accurate on-site measures to substantiate valuations, variations, and final accounts.

n

·       Prepare and submit Applications for Payment (AFPs) and interim valuations.

n

·       Price, negotiate and agree variations.

n

·       Place subcontractor orders and accounts.

n

·       Maintain robust commercial and quality control procedures across all projects under your control.

n

·       Monitor and report on project cost, progress, and risk, escalating issues early.

n

·       Support day-to-day contract administration through to project close-out and final account.

n

·       Represent our business professionally with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, building strong, lasting working relationships

n

The successful candidate will possess:

n

n

    n

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • n

  • Demonstrable experience delivering refurbishment or building restoration works.
  • n

  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage your own time across multiple live projects.
  • n

  • A team player with a can-do attitude
  • n

  • Confident and professional communicator, comfortable negotiating with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
  • n

  • Comfortable working hands-on across both site and office environments
  • n

  • Experience using Estimating / cost management software.
  • n

  • IT proficient with Microsoft Packages, including Microsoft Excel.
  • n

  • Applicants MUST be based within commuting distance of the advertised location.
