Overview
In this role you will oversee the day-to-day running of The Oaks Family Practice, ensuring efficient operations, finances, and people management in support of NHS targets and high-quality patient care. You will work closely with the GP partners to translate priorities into practical plans and develop services within a multidisciplinary team. The position offers visible impact on the local community and opportunities to strengthen systems and governance. A strong focus on leadership, problem-solving, and service improvement defines this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily running and development of the practice in line with partner priorities
- Manage budgets, cash flow, payroll, pensions, and financial reporting
- Oversee NHS contractual requirements, quality targets, and data quality checks
- Coordinate recruitment, induction, appraisals, training, and performance management
- Improve appointment access and administrative processes for responsive patient care
- Oversee governance, regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and risk management
- Coordinate with Primary Care Network, commissioners and advisers on service development
- Ensure effective premises, IT, and business continuity management
- Lead and manage staff workload, rosters, and HR processes
- Prepare reports, organise meetings, and monitor agreed actions
- Support complaints handling, patient feedback, and Patient Participation Group
Key requirements
- Demonstrable management experience in a complex service organisation with staff leadership
- Practical financial management experience: budgets, cash flow, accounting records, payroll
- Experience in recruitment, appraisals, absence management and fair handling of staff issues
- Experience planning and monitoring targets with strong data-driven improvement ability
- Ability to use data to identify problems and improve services
- Desirable: NHS GP practice management or equivalent NHS primary care experience
- Desirable: HR experience and knowledge of healthcare governance and information governance
- Confident communicator with ability to handle sensitive conversations
- Ability to work within delegated authority and escalate decisions when needed
