Maths Teacher – SEN / Specialist Education
Location: Chard, Somerset
Pay: £160 – £240 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Start Date: September 2026
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Maths lessons across KS3, KS4 and Post-16, adapting your teaching to suit individual abilities and learning needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated Maths lessons
- Teaching Functional Skills, Entry Level and GCSE Maths where appropriate
- Adapting lessons around individual learning profiles and EHCP outcomes
- Using practical resources, visual scaffolding, chunking and other creative teaching strategies
- Supporting pupils with their confidence, engagement and emotional regulation
- Monitoring progress and identifying areas where additional support is required
- Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching or supporting Maths
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Confidence differentiating lessons for a range of abilities and additional needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- A patient, flexible and child-centred approach
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous SEN, SEMH or alternative provision experience
- Experience teaching Functional Skills, Entry Level and/or GCSE Maths
- Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning
